Hoop Yoga Flow for Heart (Anahata) Chakra

Note: Feel free to use the exercises below with a rope, staff or stick. Also, simply performing them as natural yoga asanas is just as excellent.

Colour: Green

Element: Air


Purpose: Love, Compassion, Connection to all

Helps eliminate or reduce neglect of self, sluggishness, and lack of emotional control

Poses Featured:

• Mountain Pose with Upward Salute • Standing Forward Bend • Yogi Squat • Side Yogi • Camel Pose with Variations • Gate Pose with Variations • Modified Side Plank • Butterfly Pose with Eagle Arms •



Meditation


Sit comfortably with your spine straight. Hands relaxed on your knees, palms facing up or down. Stare 30 seconds at the chakra image below, memorizing it. Steady your breath. Softly close your eyes and begin to visualize the chakra as your heart center. Imagine the chakra pulsing out a vibration (front and back) with each exhalation. When you have created a rhythm, slowly introduce the mantra "YAM" when you exhale. You can recite it vocally or silently to yourself.

Continue the meditation for 3-5 minutes or for as long as it pleases you.
